  2. Wow! Congrats to chittiman upon writing this lovely piece. The manner in which he chose to depict the thinking of delusional lovers is awesome.I didn't understand the full meaning of it in a single read and I suggest multiple reads to realize intricate layers hidden inside the story. Although I would have liked to know god's response to lover's boon, I realized later that it might make the story too restrictive. I guess the whole penance thing is used as a suitable metaphor to portray the absurd lengths to which a lover would go to fulfil his desire and I’m in awe of such a piece. And I understand that these are the sick and twisted guys that we have to endure in this modern age of romance. Now that I have said that stuff, let us move onto the discussion part where we consider the reasons for which he asks the boon.
ananthamiana prema, sparsha, anirvachaneeyamaina anandhanisthunnanu, jeevitham panchukovali , thaluchukunte, kopam lo thappu, vidadheeyagalaru.
Does it actually make sense to ask for such a thing? I guess the main strength of the story is its flawed characters. (Just like the way, best stories are the ones which derive their strengths from their characters preferably with moral shortcomings). Any proper examination of the above reasons will reveal themselves to be either imaginary or irrelevant for an ideal case. A true lover will not be concerned about receiving anything in return. He wouldn't want her to love him more than any other person in the world. He just wants her to be happy. Or does he really expect him to be a cause for his lover’s happiness? She would have been happy anyway whether the lover reincarnates as her son or some other random guy is born as her son. A mother’s love to her son is unconditional. So probably, he expects himself to be a better son anyone else since he loved her in previous birth which assumes retention of memories or stream of consciousness after reincarnation. But according to general notion, only soul gets reincarnated into another life form whose consciousness is developed by birth factors and surrounding into which he is grown. And love is product of such consciousness and is certainly just a worldly matter. But, by letting the character to assume that love transcends reality, chittiman has delivered a splendid take on the concept of love itself.
But we might have made a leap of judgement over the character’s description. So I better the other possibility that god has allowed him retain his consciousness in his later birth too (or memories of previous birth). Doesn’t such possibility warrant some indecency over the nature of the character? Or we might have to altogether dispel the notion that he isn’t exactly a lover of her, but only someone who thinks him to be one. And we are again forced to witness the dumbness of a common man in assuming that through his love for some girl he expects himself to be considered as noble. Once again, it is the imperfection of the character which is glorified in the story. And it always feels nice to read a love story which doesn’t back away from criticizing its over-the-top nature. Kudos to chittiman again.

  3. i consider this story to be one of the finest criticism's of lovers albeit it was surprising to come from chittiman. and you might want to check this post (which i had written long ago) if you find my interpretation of story interesting.

//A true lover will not be concerned about receiving anything in return.//

nuvvu luv nu selfless ani antunnav!!! nuvvu cheppinattu aithe the whole process of proposing is just bullshit.....u will not luv someone expecting them to luv u back but it feels gud when the feeling is reciprocated....

//Doesn’t such possibility warrant some indecency over the nature of the character///

why do u think so?? when there is just love and no lust, i dont think there will be any indecency...

//And we are again forced to witness the dumbness of a common man in assuming that through his love for some girl he expects himself to be considered as noble.///

need some more explanation...(excuse me 4 my dumbness...)
